As one who has seen many administrations come and go, it is with sorrow that I see the current political maneuvering and passions running in predictable ways. This is a new wave of passion, one that can only be described as taking the limits off of pent up hunger for the changing of American into something not seen in many years if ever. But is this the kind of change that the taxpayers thought they were to receive? I remember working in New York in the early 1980s when Ronald Reagan was beginning his track toward strengthening this country through logical free trade, unencumbered private enterprise that unleashed within his tenure the strongest and most robust economic engine ever, and those in the state government were sorrowful, the old line liberals in New York and across the country were distraught that this actor had come upon the present and future. Remember this was New York State, the Govenor was Mario Cuomo, and at the time I was working as a regional administrator, a governor’s appointee for the State of New York. Ronald Reagan was unstoppable and had the people listening and appreciating, and the call I heard then from the minority party was “THE LEFT WILL RISE AGAIN”. That is what has happened finally today, and with strong resolute people bound to cause change and bound to make their case and place in history. It is the retribution of the Ronald Reagan times and strengths of the 1980’s on up to current years that so bothered those of the left, and now they feel it is their time. The leftists see that it is their time to bring government intervention to the capitalist free enterprise concepts of the conservatives, and stifle it to their so called advantage and their intervention to have government control of the economic future, and the blockage of the true free and natural enterprise functions driving our economic fortunes up to now. They apparently desire to have government intervention in the market place, in the investment community, our medical system, in expansion of expenditures and transfer of wealth to the underclass. The underclass, by the way, has been shrinking however since the 1980s, but that is not the way these wild eyed liberals see it. The Clinton era was not this organized in facing us, or focused, as is the Obama era. The Clinton era architects were almost caught up in their own success by amazement that they actually got power, but they lost it by the time Congress was reorganized to put their momentum in question. Remember the Contract with America? The Republicans found it their cause to fight back immediately.
The strong and dangerous ways of passion, this time now held by the Obama era architects is different than that attained during the two terms of the Clinton era, this time there are two houses in their corner and the possibility of the breakdown of reasonable balance through denial any balance due to the loss of the 60 vote safety net of the filibuster. Watch Minnesota. We see their left passion willing to undertake any advantage of their numbers and tactics that are questionable in this undertaking, as we see in Minnesota and the manipulation of the elective process there to attain their cause and number in the Senate to effect what I see as their unreasonable power. Remember, the Democrats were so smart so far sighted to weave into their past 8 years quest to unseat the Republicans that they set up the “Secretary of State Project” in as many states as possible, particularly those where close elections were thought to be possible. They sought Democratic control of the election process, and that is how they can do this current swindle attempt, right under the eyes of the Republicans who just sat there land let it happen. Remember what they tried to do in Florida in the second term election of George W. Bush. President Elect Obama’s team has made promises that were smart but in many ways are playing with high jinks as in the tax cut claim for 95% of the working population, a claim that was at best concocted to steal the votes from the Republicans but a promise that is yet to be understood as policy that is true and honest. It is really in large part a transfer of wealth to those who do not pay taxes, and of course the those who are working pay the penalty. The real purpose of this so called tax cut was a temporary loss leader so to speak to get to the higher taxes that will surely follow within a few short years for all citizens. Of course the taxpayers and corporations that make the jobs that we all need will be punished as the chosen sacrificial taxpayers to fund the great transfer of wealth now the major part of the Obama era architects. This in conjunction with the failure of Fannie Mae and Sallie Mae, through Democratic pressure to have these two agencies do their bidding, that then caused the credit crisis, made their assent possible. Smart and quick, just in time for the election of Obama and his style of leadership. Did the Democrats specifically engineer the crisis, perhaps that is a stretch, but it definitely came as a result of Democrats in Congress continuing the long term miss-use of Fannie Mae and Sallie Mae to generate the residential real estate inflated prices that resulted in this crisis. When the loans resulting from the Democrats pushing this lending at 110 % or more “loan to value ratio” caused this mess, it was just a matter of time until the banks weakened and generated the current fiscal crisis. Along comes the immediate “had to be passed bail out” that we now see has no real effects upon the crisis, and in the rush of things they forgot to put in controls that would have forced proper accountability. Again a failure of Congress, controlled by Democrats with some help from Republicans duped to act in support just to get to some modicum of relief. Things rushed through in the heat of the moment generally always fail to be effective. Now cities and the auto industry and who knows who else are lined up to get their share of bail out, to the detriment of our nation and its taxpayers. There seems to be no restraint and no responsibility for what has happened so the taxpayers are the ones that will bail out everyone, but not themselves. Our children and their children will be paying for this mess.
We can only hope that this will soon be the down fall of those who foisted this untenable happening upon the taxpayers, when the electorate begins to see the promises of the Obama era fading away to problems that befall those in power, too much power so as to expose their leadership from the left, not the center. Yes, I believe Obama and those around him will lead from the far left. This country will not accept continued leadership from the far left for too long, and the country will hunger for return to the middle and reasonable policies and could make the election in the “off year” very interesting. The Republicans need to focus upon and make immediate headway starting now. Will these current Republicans see the opportunity to regain some ground, or will they suffer through the next four years trying to relate to the Democrats who will not be receptive of them, before they stumble upon a clear path back to reasonable economic policy by taking back one or both Houses of Congress? Any delay of this will be at the feet of those Republicans who are middle of the road, or very moderate Republicans because they will be lengthening the time that this country will suffer with this liberal and damaging Obama era that has just started. The challenge is great and must be recognized.
The Republican Party must rebuild and change dramatically if it is to stage a comeback. They cannot just accept working in the margins of this current administration that is about to happen. They must fight it, challenge it, and defeat it in the next four years at the Congressional level, and this can only be done by beginning the fight today, not later.
Republicans must begin to build plans for Congressional elections and the Presidential election immediately. It can only be done by educating the American people of the policies that will be creating extensive change to our long history of economic growth. If one looks at the massive expenditures that President Elect Obama is focused upon, we have as Republicans no choice but to rebuild and fight back. The longer the Obama era is unchallenged, the longer it will take to undue massive change to our way of life in America. Let’s get going on this today. “THE RIGHT WILL RISE AGAIN”.
